Question Is it better to show graph in rows or in columns?

Whether we choose a bar or row chart display, in the words of Stephen Few in the book "Show me the numbers'', depends on whether values are lined in obvious sequence, when there are clear variations between values of categories (not only minimal variations, for example 1%). It also depends on how long are the names of categories. In both cases, it is preferable to use a row chart display. We can use column chart display, when variations are smaller.
